The depot was built in 1912 and renovated in 1981 by the Nicholas County Historical Society. It is the home of the Nicholas County History Museum providing several genealogical records and historical artifacts. The Carlisle Women's Club furnished the garden area and used iron railing that was originally part of the courthouse yard. |

c. 1883. The building has housed a grocery and the "Mozart Hall". In the late 1800's, the "Mozart Hall" was home to traveling musicians and vocalists who entertained the townspeople. Later, the building was the home of a variety store called "Noah's Ark". From 1932 to 2003, the Neal family operated a business in this location. In 2003, the Neal family donated the building to the Nicholas County Historical Society and it is currently being renovated to serve as a welcome center for visitors of Carlisle. |

Jailer's Home or Old Nicholas County Jail

Built between 1820-23, the building was used as a jail and the jailer's home from 1857 until the 1980's. The back addition was added in 1891. The building was renovated in 1991 for use as the Visitors and Information Center. |

Daniel Boone's Cabin
US 68 |
| A short distance north past the junction of Highway 68 and Highway 36 is the site of Daniel Boone's last home in Kentucky. A historical marker is on the right side of the Highway 68 with the cabin visible in a wooded hollow. Two tenths of a mile past the marker is a driveway through which the cabin can be reached. The cabin is listed on the National Historic Register. |

Hildreth School

In the rural northern portion of the county is a one room school house that was used from the 1880's until 1941. It also served as a place for religious services. The Public Broadcasting Services used this school in the filming of the movie Huckleberry Finn. |
