A Look into Our Rich Past
Carlisle-Nicholas County Tourism
Carlisle Nicholas County Tourism was founded 33 years ago to promote Tourism in Carlisle and Nicholas county. Over the many years we have restored our Jailers Home which offers monthly luncheons, The one room Hildreth School, The last log cabin home of Daniel Boone in Kentucky. We honor our Veterans each year with Memorial Flags and have our Memorial Christmas trees around the courthouse square with over one hundred thousand twinkling lights. Gladys Shrout has been the President of tourism since its conception 33 years ago and continues to serve and lead our organization.

Through private donations and grants the Historical society was able to restore the 1883 building which now serves as our Museum, Welcome Center and Chamber of commerce office. In addition the 5000 square foot Mozart Hall on the second floor is used for concerts, private events throughout the year. Jerry Johnson currently serves as the President of the Historical society.
