Lake Carnico

This scenic 150 acre lake located just off of Highway 68 in Nicholas County is the perfect place to get away from the hustle & bustle.  Lake Carnico is owned by the Nicholas County Development Corporation, a non-profit organization which was formed in 1961 for the purpose of building the lake and the adjacent 4-H Camp for the betterment of Nicholas County.


Visitors are welcome to enjoy the public beach and boat ramp.  So pack a picnic, load up your beach gear and kayak, and come out to enjoy a day on the water at this hidden gem.

Pay before entering

No swimming beyond the ropes

Swim at your own risk

No unattended children

No alcohol

No glass

No littering

No pets

No lifeguard on duty

No person seventeen(17) years of age or younger

may swim without a responsible adult present




Admission Fees:

Hours of operation Monday-Thursday -10 am -7pm

Friday -Sunday 10am-8pm

$5 person Beach Entrance (all ages) (Must wear wristband at all times)

$10 Boat Launch Fee (motorized)

$5 Boat Launch Fee (motorized) fishing boats

3$ non-motorized watercraft (kayaks, paddle boards, canoes)


Lake Carnico is a no wake lake


Pre-Packaged snacks are available for sale at the beach (open seasonally)


Portable toilets are available
